Tropical Outdoor Triggers of Asthma and Allergies (TOTAAL) application is a complimentary tool designed to assist individuals affected by allergies. This app is particularly beneficial for those vulnerable to fungal spores, known for triggering allergies such as allergic conjunctivitis, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis/eczema, hives, and asthma.
The application facilitates the correlation between local fungal counts and personal allergy and asthma reactions. Users can access real-time pollen and fungal spore levels in San Juan, PR, through the TOTAAL app. Developed by Dr. Benjamin Bolaños, the Director and founder of the San Juan AAAAI Station at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, this platform is backed by his extensive expertise as an Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology at the Medical Sciences Campus.
Dr. Bolaños has been actively engaged in clinical research investigating the impact of fungal spores as allergens, along with the purification of tropical fungal allergens.
It is important to note that all information provided by this app should be utilized solely for personal purposes. The TOTAAL app is the intellectual property of the San Juan Station at the Medical Sciences Campus. Any unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of these materials is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from Benjamin Bolaños and the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico.
